3D Printing’s Solution to Your Bathroom Problems: Wine Glass Holders

Often the simplest ideas turn out to become the best, and that certainly goes up for ImagiGadget CEO Michael Aylesworth. In January he started his new product line Wave Hooks, which are 3D printed plastic glass holders you can use when you’re in taking a bath or a shower. A holder for your wine glass when you’re taking a bath, or a beer holder for showering-with-beer-enthousiasts.

He had two successful crowd funding campaigns on Indiegogo and Kickstarter, and within only 10 days he raised as much as 18,329 dollars, while his initial goals where to only make 3000 dollars.

Sometimes it’s really hard to predict whether a crowd funding campaign works or not. In case of Wave Hooks I would certainly not have predicted it to become a success. However, as it turned out a lot of people wanted to buy a glass holder online and the project got as many as 700 backers and over 1000 units were pre-ordered.

And while the accompanying video more looks like a scene from a sitcom than an actual sales pitch, I must admit that after watching it I can see why so many backed it. A glass of wine and a warm bath: there are certainly worse things to think of.  However, his beer holder still doesn’t make too much sense to me – but maybe it can be a useful addition to a party-ish student house? As he self declares in a next “thank you”-video, the wine holders turned out to become the most popular orders.

Customers paid 15 dollars for their original wine glass holders and they can expect them to be delivered by this year’s May. New customers get their wine glass holders by June. We wish his 3D printer all the best during these months of hard work. Stay strong.

In addition, Aylesworth has already been interviewed about his project – which once again very much looks like a sitcom-ish video:
