A frequently heard problem with iPhone headphones is that they can become entangled very easily, even if you roll them up as good as you can. ‘Bud-E’ is the name of a brand new wrapping cases project on Kickstarter that needs to help earbuds remain untangled.
A frequently heard problem with iPhone headphones is that they can become entangled very easily, even if you roll them up as good as you can. ‘Bud-E’ is the name of a brand new wrapping cases project on Kickstarter that needs to help earbuds remain untangled.
The idea came from Tareq Mirza from San Francisco, CA. He spent a year developing the earbuds using 3D printing, but the whole thing is ready now. It works like this: you can click your earbuds inside the Bud-E case, then wrap it up and close the case. There is a belt clip at the back, which enables users to carry the wrapping case with them. Another advantage is that you can use Bud-E to shorten or stabilize the chord while you’re using your earbuds.
Mirza created two versions of Bud-E. The first version is a Kitty Cat (above) and the second a Puppy Dog. The reason he created two different versions is because there are different kinds of earbuds from Apple: the traditional iPhone chords and the relatively new chords. Especially for the campaign on Kickstarter, Mirza also created a Vamp Head Bud-E case (below), which looks like a frightening vampire. This case isn’t portable, however people can use it as decoration on their desks.
Of course, these cases could seem a bit shoddy to some, but we can’t deny Mirza has found a creative way to use 3D printing for functional purposes. It’s definitely a perfect example of the cool, innovative 3D printing related stuff that is happening on Kickstarter at the moment. If you’re interested, you can buy the Bud-E cases for 25 dollars or more on Kickstarter. Mirza expects to deliver them in February 2013 or later. Here’s a video about his project:
